Hello,
Well I'm back in OKC 1st-- my greenie area-- and it has been a little crazy. I'm so glad that I didn't have to completely start a new area, I know where to email, shop, do laundry, etc. The first evening we were here there was this amazing Bible display to mark the 600th anniversary of the King James Bible. There were over 1,000 Bibles there, and it was cool because I was able to see lots of the members of the ward and introduce them to my companion. And surprisingly most of them remembered me, which was cool too!
This first week has been a lot of tracking down our investigators and possible investigators, and less-active members that the missionaries were working with. So far we only have gone tracting once since we got here, but it was a super cool experience. We tracted one side of a street and we gave out two
Book of Mormon's and have a total of four people that might become investigators. I was also really impressed by my companion, Sister Draper. She has a strong testimony and is very well prepared to be a missionary. I am so grateful that I can be training. I feel like I'm at the point in my mission that if I'm not careful I could settle into the routine of things and not keep that steep level of learning. People in the mission talk of the fire that greenies have, and I can see it. Sister Draper is personally invested in everyone we teach which reminds me not to just think of people as just another investigator.
So we had a member drive us from Woodward to the OKC temple and then another member pick us up at the temple and take us to transfers, so Sister Grant and I got pictures up at the temple. :) After transfers, Pres.& Sis. Harralson took us out to eat. Pres. Harralson is the branch president in Woodward, though he lives in the city and is a judge, I think, for the Oklahoma Supreme Court. So I attached lots of pictures from transfers and lunch. There is also a picture of me with a 1611 King James Bible. It just floored me that this man let everyone touch all the Bibles! He said that for hundreds of year pastors didn't let anyone touch the Bible and so that was something important to him, to allow people to touch and feel the Bibles. We also saw a replica of the "Sinners Bible" It was a misprint and in Exodus it said "Thou shalt commit adultery." Pretty funny! :)
Love,
Sister Lila Jenson
